Allt Shiecheachan Bothy Circuit – a hard ride!

Great for: Experienced riders wanting a fun ride with challenging hill sections

Benefits: Some testing tracks for the more experienced, including some steep up and downhill sections. Starts at a car park.

Warning: This route climbs to 2000ft in places and gets very exposed. Make sure you dress appropriately and layer up!

Length: Approx. 15 miles

From the Museum Car Park in Blair Atholl, take the track up the River Tilt towards the Glen Tilt Car Park and onwards towards Old Blair. At the crossroads in Old Blair, go straight on and follow the Banvie Burn track, over a stile and up through the woods to open moorland. After a few miles the track starts to descend to the Allt Shiechaenchan burn and bothy. After the bothy, cross the burn and ride up the hill on the narrow trail. After nearly a mile the track crosses back over the burn and then you are faced with a steep hill on loose track. At the top of the hill you’ll be pleased to know that’s your highest point! Follow the track down following the Allt Slanaidh, riding through it many times. At the woods take care as the track is steep here. After 2 gates you will reach the track to Glen Tilt and the rifle range – keep right and head back down towards Old Blair and retrace your tracks back to Blair Atholl.
